The City and the Federal Government are opening a Commercial Space Renovation Grant starting on June 1/26. Please see full details below along with the Learn More link. Note, applications will be assessed on a first-come first-served basis so if you wish to apply I recommend that you do so right at 9am on June 1st.

Commercial Space Renovation Grant Program

The Commercial Space Renovation Grant Program was developed in support of the recovery and long-term success of local small businesses.

All vacant commercial units, commercial units impacted by major transit construction projects, and commercial tenants and commercial property owners that received the federal CRA rent rebate under the CERS program are eligible for the grant to undertake interior improvements. To qualify, the commercial space must have a commercial access at street level. The program offers matching funding equal to 50 percent of the cost of interior improvements up to a maximum base grant of $20,000 for $40,000 worth of renovations. The program is funded by the Government of Canada through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario. The 2nd round Commercial Space Renovation Grant

Applications open on June 1st at 9 a.m. and close on June 5th at noon. Applications will be reviewed and assessed in the order in which we receive them. A wait list will be developed should further funding be made available in 2026. Learn more
