Good Afternoon All,
I didn't have an earlier update today for you however, I've just received the email and update below from our MP Julie Dabrusin. The link contained in her email provides some further updates on the Emergency Commercial Rent Assistance Program. Certain new or clarified information is on the website: landlords who don't have mortgages are eligible for the program and details will be provided shortly; businesses who have paid full rent in April and become part of this rent assistance program will be eligible for refunds or credits towards future months' rent. I urge all of you - tenants and landlords - to please click on the link and read through the sections carefully.
MP Dabrusin has also asked that you send her your feedback - I've included Julie in the top send line of this email.
Thanks,
Susan

Good afternoon BIA leadership - earlier today we were advised that CMHC had updated their website to share additional information about the commercial rent assistance program (CECRA). It includes a section where you can register for updates. You can find the CECRA page here: https://www.cmhc-schl.gc.ca/en/finance-and-investing/covid19-cecra-small-business
I would ask that you share this link with your memberships so that businesses and landlords can review the updated plan and raise any issues/questions/concerns that they may have. We have gotten a substantial amount of feedback on the program to date but continue to collect every bit of info we can so that Julie can advocate for the improvements or fixes prior to the launch of the program in May. Whether you are a tenant or a landlord, please let us know if the program meets your needs or if you have any suggestions on how to improve it.
Thank you as always for supporting our businesses here in Toronto Danforth.
