Backing International Small Restaurants (For Eligible Restaurants)
Applications are now open for the grant program. Backing International Small Restaurants will award 20 grants of $20,000 CAD to small, independent restaurants across Toronto and Montreal. These grants are aimed at helping restaurants grow, recover, and support their local communities. Funding can be used for a range of initiatives including enhancing digital capabilities, building or refreshing dining spaces, and making improvements to kitchen operations. The program also operates in 8 other countries around the world.

Workplace Safety & Prevention Services (WSPS) Safety Awards
Small businesses work hard to keep their teams safe on the job. The WSIB’s updated Small Business Safety Awards recognize independently owned and operated businesses with fewer than 50 paid employees that are making their workplaces safer. This year, five small businesses will win $20,000 each!
Applying is easy. You don’t need to have a complete health and safety system in place to apply. Just tell the WSIB about a practical step, creative solution, or thoughtful approach your business has used to solve a workplace health and safety challenge.
Applications are open from September 14 to October 16, 2026.
