Friday Night Salute + Other Info

Good Afternoon All,

On behalf of myself and our Board of Directors, we want to thank all of you for your work in the past 4 days to re-open your businesses and bring the Danforth back to life. Some of you have had to repair things that were damaged by bullets and damage caused through the work of the first responders. For people who aren't in the area it's naturally very hard to understand how challenging the behind the scenes things have been and how challenging it's been to try to get back to business, so thank you all.

Earlier in the week Vito Marinuzzi, the owner of our 7 Numbers restaurant, had a wonderful idea. He suggested to me that once we were back up and somewhat running we should get all of our business owners, staff etc. to stand outside of each of their businesses. I've shared this idea with our neighbours in the Greektown BIA and we would like to do this tomorrow night, Friday, July 27th. Attached please find the media alert with full details. Basically we're asking ALL businesses from Broadview to Jones Avenues to gather their staff and stand in front of their businesses tomorrow night at 6pm; then at 6:05pm observe a minute of silence and finish that by shouting "Danforth Stand Strong" and start this new weekend with strength. I ask that you please share this on your social media; with your customers etc. and I hope that you will all join in.

In the past few days we've received many emails from our fellow BIAs throughout the city and beyond. I've replied to them all on behalf of our Danforth BIA. However our friends at the Bloor-Yorkville BIA have sent a letter to you all - please find it attached.

We've also received a number of offers and requests to help with fundraising for Keiley Abbat's - owner of Small Wonders - go-fund-me initiative for the victims. One of these offers is being organized by our business member The Social Capital Theatre, 154 Danforth Avenue. They are hosting a comedy night this coming Monday, July 30th starting at 8pm. All proceeds from this show will go towards the Danforth Strong Go Fund Me account. They are also offering a raffle as part of the evening. If anyone would like to donate a prize for the raffle please contact Carmine Lucarelli directly via email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

I will keep you all updated on further events as they are planned.

Hope to see everyone in front of their business tomorrow night.

Thanks kindly,
Susan
