Good Afternoon All,
This morning we had a large water main break on the north side of Danforth between Ellerbeck and Playter Avenues - photos attached. The road is somewhat buckled. The alert went out about 9:30am. Businesses located in this section on the north side had some flooding and their power had to be cut. South side businesses are all fine. City crews and hydro were on site fairly quickly. Unfortunately there was so much water that the hydro transformer was fried which then caused a cascade of power outages along the north side of Danforth from Ellerbeck to Jackman Avenue.
At this time (3:45pm), the City crews are digging up the section of Danforth where the water main break happened; the north side lane is closed to traffic heading west but the middle lane is open for westbound traffic. A second Hydro crew is on route with the new transformer. They will have to remove the cement sections of the sidewalk on the east side of our Pizza Nova, remove the old transformer, and install the new one. We are hoping to have power back on some time tonight or tomorrow morning. I'm sorry but they can't give me anymore of a specific timeframe.
I've been to most of the businesses affected but some of you don't work on Sunday so when you arrive at your offices tomorrow you may not have power or you may need to reset your various things.
