Celebrate soccer, music, and community on the Danforth with The World Within Our Neighbourhood — a free summer event bringing people together through the joy of the beautiful game. Join the Broadview Danforth BIA on June 12 and 13 for outdoor match-day fun, live music, family-friendly activities, local performances, and a special viewing party for Canada’s opening match against Bosnia and Herzegovina. The celebration continues through July 2 with musicians performing in CafeTO parkettes across the neighbourhood, representing cultures and countries from around the world. Come cheer, explore, dance, eat, shop, and experience the incredible mix of global sounds, local businesses, and community spirit that make Broadview Danforth feel like the world in one neighbourhood.

AGM Update & Other News....

Hi All,

The Danforth BIA held its Annual General Meeting last night (Monday).  Thank you to all who attended.
 
This was an election year for the BIA's Board of Directors.  At this time we'd like to extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to the BIA members and City Councilors who have served on the Board for the past term:
Albert Stortchak (Der Dietemann Antiques), Christopher Molder (Tridac Mortgages), Fiona Boylan (Cobs Bread), Elizabeth Bugajski (Kemi Boutique), Adrian Molder (property rep.), Eduardo Eed (Second Cup), Councilor Mary Fragedakis and Councilor Paula Fletcher. The time and work that you've contributed to our Danforth BIA is greatly appreciated and you leave big shoes for the new Board to fill.
 
Now I would like to introduce you to the new Board of Directors who will begin their 4 year term in January of 2019:
Albert Stortchak, Fiona Boylan, Eduardo Eed are returning along with the following new members - Philip Kocev (iPro Realty), Steven Biasutti (SideBar), Jay Cianfrini (The Danforth Music Hall) and Councilor Paula Fletcher (new Ward 14).  Thank you all for putting your names forward to sit on the Board of Directors.  I'm looking forward to an exciting new term!

Our Boo-tastic Pumpkin Carving Contest:

Don't forget to check out our Danforth social media and vote for your favourite Danforth BIA member pumpkin.  There are 7 entries: Joy of Dance Centre, The Edmund Burke, Cobs Bread, The Clay Room, Inner Arts Centre, Dough Bakery and The Auld Spot.  The winner will be announced  this Thursday, Nov. 1 at noon and will receive a free ad in NOW Magazine's Chill Winter Guide coming out on November 22.

Beer & Taxes Event:

On November 13, local beer from Great Lakes Brewery and light refreshments will be served at the Urbanspace Gallery in 401 Richmond. Come see the Ryerson CBI’s exhibition, TAXED OUT, on the threat of current commercial tax policy to small business and culture, enjoy a drink with members of Toronto Region Board of Trade and TABIA, and talk property tax.

Brief remarks at 7 PM by Lionel Miskin (Vice President, TABIA) and Brian Kelcey (VP, Public Affairs, Toronto Region Board of Trade)
