Celebrate soccer, music, and community on the Danforth with The World Within Our Neighbourhood — a free summer event bringing people together through the joy of the beautiful game. Join the Broadview Danforth BIA on June 12 and 13 for outdoor match-day fun, live music, family-friendly activities, local performances, and a special viewing party for Canada’s opening match against Bosnia and Herzegovina. The celebration continues through July 2 with musicians performing in CafeTO parkettes across the neighbourhood, representing cultures and countries from around the world. Come cheer, explore, dance, eat, shop, and experience the incredible mix of global sounds, local businesses, and community spirit that make Broadview Danforth feel like the world in one neighbourhood.

Monday News & Updates

I have a couple of things to bring to your attention for this week:

Fundraiser for The Detroit Eatery:
Our neighbour, Louis Cifer Brew Works, 417 Danforth Avenue, is organizing a fundraiser for The Detroit Eatery this coming Friday, February 1.  I've attached a copy of the poster that they've created.  The owner of Louis Cifer, Erin Gamelin, has reached out to us to see if we would be able to help promote the event and also to see if any of our business members would like to donate something to the raffle.  If you are interested in donating a prize please contact Erin directly at the following email address:  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
We will help promote the event through our social media outlets.

Public Meeting re: Sidewalk Cafes & Marketing Displays:

The general public is invited to attend the City's public consultation on the Sidewalk Cafés & Marketing Displays Bylaw Review on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Toronto City Hall, Committee Room 4, from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m.

The purpose of this review is to harmonize the bylaw so that consistent standards are applied across the City. As part of the review, the City is proposing updated fees, as well as new standards and options for marketing displays and sidewalk cafés (for example, curbside cafés and parklet cafés).

More information on the Sidewalk Cafés & Marketing Displays Review is available on the City of Toronto website.

Winter Sidewalks:

Just a reminder that with the snow and ice you need to clear a good sized area in front of your business and please salt the area.  I do receive complaints from consumers when our sidewalks are not properly shoveled and salted.

Thanks,

Susan
