Sounds of Summer Comes To Broadview Danforth BIA

Good Evening All,

Many of you may have heard that the City is rolling out a pilot music program designed to feature local musicians playing within the CafeTO curb lane patios.  Our Broadview Danforth BIA was selected as one of the areas in the City to host this pilot.

We weren't given a lot of time to organize this program but I'm pleased to say that we have some great music booked for this coming weekend!  We have designated two music hubs in our BIA:
The Black Swan curb lane patio; and, our CafeTO parklet curb lane area located in front of 319 Danforth Avenue.

John and Bill Pachis, the owners of The Black Swan have partnered with Jane Noonan, the owner of the Dora Keogh Pub to curate the music that will take place at the Black Swan music hub.  John and Bill had some extra space in their curb lane patio and kindly offered it up for this pilot. It is a perfect spot for music groups to set up and for everyone in that section of the BIA to enjoy the music.

The location of our CafeTO parklet is also in the middle of a long row of curb lane patios on the south side of Danforth from Bowden to Hampton Avenues and, again, the music can be enjoyed by all patio guests and retail customers strolling through our BIA.

Here's the line-up for this weekend:
  • Thursday, Aug. 12 - Alan Zemaitis Organ Trio, Black Swan Music Hub, 6pm to 9pm
  • Friday, Aug. 13 - The Andrew McCarthy Quartet, BIA Parklet Music Hub, 5:30pm to 9pm
  • Friday, Aug. 13 - Blues Jam Featuring Rob Quail, Mike Sedgewich & Robin Hutchinson, Black Swan Music Hub, 9pm to 10pm
I hope that you all come out, pick a patio or take a stroll and enjoy the Sounds of Summer in our BIA.

I'm also looking for bands - this pilot runs for the duration of the CafeTO program so through to October.  If you know a local group that you think would be a great fit for our area please send me their contact information.

Thanks,
Susan
