Friday, June 30/23 Update: Construction, CafeTO/BD Beats, Taste

Here are this week's updates:

1. Broadview Construction
  • Work will begin this coming Tuesday, July 4th.  Barrel barriers will be installed on Broadview from Gerrard to Danforth either this Sunday, July 2 or Monday, July 3. Area signage will also be installed on these days.
  • As of Tuesday, July 4th Broadview will have only one full lane running north from Gerrard to Danforth.  There will be a "local access" shortened lane running south on Broadview to Wolfrey.  Anyone using this south lane will either have to do a u-turn at Wolfrey and proceed north on Broadview or they can go east along Wolfrey.  This limited south lane will only be available until the beginning of August.
  • Construction work on Montcrest will also begin this Tuesday, July 4th
  • TTC track replacement north of Broadview - TTC is still aiming to start this at the beginning of September through November.  I've been promised details next week - we'll see.

2. CafeTO & BD Beats
  • You will notice that some of our participating CafeTO restaurants have been able to put out their tables etc.  Full decks and fencing - per the City's new rules - will be installed in the next few weeks.
  • The BIA's curb lane parkettes are being installed on the north side of Danforth between Ellerbeck and Broadview; and, on the south side of Danforth between Bowden and Hampton.  Our BD Beats live music program takes place in these parkettes and in the courtyard of the Carrot Common.  We have been having music at the Carrot Common while we've been waiting for the City to approve the parkette areas - once they're installed we will be in full swing each week with live music - Thursday (north parkette) & Friday (south parkette) nights from 6pm to 9pm and Sunday afternoon at the Carrot from 1pm to 4pm.

3. Taste
  • I don't have a lot that I can say at the moment other than your registrations have been received by Greektown BIA.
  • They are still working on site plans and other details.  When I'm able I will let you know more.
That's it for today.  I hope you all have a lovely Canada Day - enjoy and be safe!

Thanks,
Susan
