Hope everyone is managing to stay cool during this hot first week of July.  It's been another hectic week and here's where we're at with various projects.

 

- As you know from my email earlier this week, it was decided that our section of Broadview could stay fully open for the time being while the work starts further south - Gerrard to Sparkhall.  However, anyone driving south on Broadview will have to turn off before they hit Sparkhall.

- A defect has been found in the sewer work that was done at Broadview Danforth a couple of weeks ago.  This means that crews will be working in the intersection of Broadview Danforth starting this Monday through to Wednesday from 8pm to 6am. Water services will NOT be affected while this repair work is happening.

- Crews will be starting to repair damaged sections of the sidewalk on Broadview from Gerrard to Danforth next week.  They should be in our section by late next week.  Signage will be installed where needed asking people to walk around the sections being repaired.

- Excavation work at Montcrest is anticipated to start next week as well.

- TTC work north of the Danforth to Erindale - at the moment this is tentatively scheduled to begin right after the Labour Day weekend.  This work will require a 30 day closure of Broadview from Danforth to Erindale.  PLEASE NOTE: details of this closure are still to be worked out and I will provide specifics once I have confirmed information.

- The 2 week closure of Danforth heading west from Ellerbeck to Broadview is still on the schedule for the last two weeks of August - after Taste.  If these dates change I will let you know.

 

- The redevelopment of the church on the south west corner of Danforth and Bowden is moving forward.  The plans will go to the City's Committee of Adjustment on July 12th.

- Once the plans are fully approved demolition is scheduled to begin at the end of August/beginning of September and will run through to the end of October.

- They anticipate that construction will take 6 months.

- A traffic mitigation plan for this section is still to be developed.

 

- Honestly I can't believe it's July 7th and we're still dealing with CafeTO issues and problems but.... here we are.  Over the next week or so you should see our participating CafeTO members getting their decking and fencing installed and getting their patios fully operational.

- We have our 2 BIA parkettes somewhat set-up.  Our decking should be installed next Wednesday.

- With the completion of the 2 BIA parkettes we are finally able to add our Thursday night BD Beats bands into the schedule starting next Thursday, July 13th in the parkette located in front of Cobs and Judaline.

 

- Our next door neighbour - Greektown BIA - who produce Taste, are still working on some challenges which means that the site plan for the full event area (Danforth from Broadview to Jones) isn't ready.  Again, once I have more information I will let you all know.
