1. Outdoor Cafe By-Law & Guidelines:
For all of our members with patios, Susan attended the Stakeholder meeting held last night at Metro Hall. We figured that a 6pm to 9pm Weds meeting was not the most ideal time to get restaurant, cafe and bar owners out. MLS and Transportation Services are still working on updating the current by-laws governing outdoor cafes. These by-laws haven't been updated for many years. They're looking at all aspects including but not limited to: applications, fees, notices, appeals, permit transfers (if selling your business), fencing, sidewalk clearances etc. Susan will continue to attend these meetings on your behalf and update you as progress is made. According to MLS and Transportation Services, they should have their review completed mid 2015.
2. Shop The Neighbourhood:
Just a reminder that this Saturday, November 29 is Shop The Neighbourhood Day. Thanks again to all members who registered a special deal. We have some give-aways from the organizers and we will be dropping them off to registered members on Friday November 28. We hope that everyone has a great day and a good start to the holiday shopping and dining season.
3. The Danforth BIA is honoured by Sunnybrook Foundation:
For those who didn't attend our AGM earlier in the month you missed a special presentation made by Pamela Ross, Vice President of Sunnybrook Foundation. An exam room at the Odette Cancer Centre is being named in honour of the Danforth BIA. This is in recognition of our support through our Thrill of the Grill event. The plaque that was presented to members at the AGM is now installed up at the Odette. Attached is a photo that was taken this week when the installation happened.
