Celebrate soccer, music, and community on the Danforth with The World Within Our Neighbourhood — a free summer event bringing people together through the joy of the beautiful game. Join the Broadview Danforth BIA on June 12 and 13 for outdoor match-day fun, live music, family-friendly activities, local performances, and a special viewing party for Canada’s opening match against Bosnia and Herzegovina. The celebration continues through July 2 with musicians performing in CafeTO parkettes across the neighbourhood, representing cultures and countries from around the world. Come cheer, explore, dance, eat, shop, and experience the incredible mix of global sounds, local businesses, and community spirit that make Broadview Danforth feel like the world in one neighbourhood.

Thrill of the Grill 2016 Participation Reminder

Just a reminder that we're hoping as many of you as possible will participate in our area's annual Thrill of the Grill event this coming July 9th. Below is the event overview that I sent out a couple of weeks ago. Within the next week some of our Board members will be stopping by your businesses to discuss your possible participation this year.

Thanks kindly,
Susan

Date: Saturday, July 9th

Time: Noon to 4pm - Danforth from Broadview to Jackman will be closed to traffic from 8am to 6pm.

The following 6 restaurants have agreed to participate in the BBQ rib competition:

Allen's, Globe Bistro, The Combine Eatery, Factory Girl, The Meat Department and our newest area restaurant, The Edmund Burke.

This year each bbq station will be located in front of the participating business.
We are opening up the event area so that attending guests can walk around our BIA and visit all of our businesses while they're sampling the ribs.

The wine and beer areas will be tented and fenced.
We still need to fence in our beer and wine areas (per AGCO rules) and they will be located on the Danforth road itself.

Sidewalk Sale Permit:
We've applied for a Sidewalk Sale Permit for Thrill this year and we're hoping that as many of you as possible will take advantage of this and set up out front of your business. This is a great opportunity to promote your business to the 2,500 consumers that come to Thrill within the 4 hour event period.

Who Attends Thrill:
One of Thrill's great successes is that it draws consumers from the Riverdale, Moore Park and Bayview areas. These are consumers who, once introduced to our area, come back to our Danforth BIA after the event to shop and dine. We have an aggressive marketing plan for Thrill - one that consistently achieves over 13 million impressions. We target our key consumer areas in order to attract the perfect consumer for your business.
Thrill is a ticketed event - we cut off ticket sales when we reach 2,500 people.

NO Fees:
Your participation in the sidewalk sale during Thrill is free - there are NO participation fees.

Retailers:
We encourage you to set up and sell your great items. You may wish to offer special Thrill deals etc.

Restaurants/Food Shops:
We encourage you to offer sample sized portions of food that best promote your particular business. We do however ask that you don't sample/offer the following: ribs, corn or water. We also are not allowing any kind of grills or on-street cooking, and no cooking related equipment. You will have to fill out the City of Toronto Health Forms if you wish to participate.

Our Charity:
Once again proceeds from Thrill will be directed to the Odette Cancer Centre at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. This year we will be selling Danforth Mystery Bags to our guests. We're inviting all of you to consider contributing to these bags. It can be a 2 for 1 coupon, a product etc. Whatever you wish and whatever would best promote your business. We will be offering 250 bags for sale. All proceeds from the Danforth Mystery Bags will be directed to our charity.

Bike Fun Zone:
This year we're adding in a Bike Fun Zone for kids and kids at heart! It will be located on the Danforth between Playter and Jackman. We've partnered with Ward 29 and Ward 30 Bike Associations and they will be helping us to organize a bike safety area; a bike decorating area, and a small fun bike obstacle course.

Danforth BIA Sponsors:
Each year Thrill attracts some great sponsors to help with the event. Returning this year are: RBC, Pfizer, ESKA, SteamWhistle, Gnarly Head Wine, Toronto Star, NOW Magazine, 680 NEWS, Daniel et Daniel, Higgins Event Rentals.
Local BIA Sponsors:
We're "Thrilled" to welcome the following Danforth BIA business sponsors this year: Loblaws, The Danforth Music Hall, Second Cup, Midico Art & Office Supplies, FRESH Florals, and Leaf & Bloom.

Volunteers:
We always need extra help. Please let me know if you wish to volunteer or know someone that might like to volunteer. This is also a great opportunity for any high school kids to work on their mandatory 40 hours of volunteer work needed in order to graduate from high school.
