TTC Notice - Pape to St George closed this Sunday, June 12 - parking restrictions on Bloor/Danforth

We just received the notice below from the TTC re: this Sunday's subway closure and parking restrictions. Please read so you know about the parking restrictions and can let your customers know should you wish.

There is a one-day subway closure this Sunday between Pape and St George stations. Although TTC does maintenance work on the subway every night once service ends, much more work is needed to improve infrastructure and provide reliable service. One weekend of work during a subway closure accomplishes as much as five weeks of nightly work.

During scheduled subway closures, a frequent shuttle bus service is provided, but without on-street parking restrictions, transit and traffic is generally very congested. TTC is working with City Transportation and Parking Enforcement to conduct a parking restriction pilot/trial on Danforth Avenue and Bloor Street aimed to reduce congestion and improve travel times for all road users during subway closures. Approximately 35-40 articulated buses will be introduced to traffic on Danforth and Bloor this Sunday during the subway closure between Pape and St George stations. TTC will monitor the shuttle bus service and track travel times to report back following the subway closure.

Parking restriction pilot plan for Sunday, June 12, 2016

The parking pilot involves temporarily restricting on-street parking on both sides of Danforth/Bloor between St George Street and Pape Avenue. The following temporary parking restrictions will be in effect between 3:30 a.m. Sunday to 12:01 a.m. Monday:

1. Danforth Avenue between Broadview Avenue and Pape Avenue

2. Bloor Street from St George Street to Avenue Road

3. Bloor Street from Church Street to Ted Rogers Way, and from Huntley Street to Sherbourne Street

Parking restriction plan and Green P lots between St George and Sherbourne, and Broadview and Pape area

Background information regarding this parking initiative

TTC has been coordinating with City Transportation to implement on-street parking restrictions along shuttle bus routes during scheduled subway closures. Most recently, TTC and the City implemented similar parking restrictions on Bloor Street on April 9-10 and May 7-8 during subway closures between Bathurst and Jane stations. When parking was restricted on Bloor Street between Bathurst and Jane streets, travel times were improved by 30 to 40 percent.
