TTC parking plan during Sunday, July 24 subway closure between Broadview and Main Street stations

Please read the email below re: TTC subway closure in our area for this coming Sunday, July 24 and the parking restrictions that the TTC will be implementing on the Danforth.  You may wish to let your Sunday customers know in advance.
Thanks, Susan

Hello Danforth BIA,

My name is Paul Tran, a Community Liaison with the TTC. I am writing to your BIA to share information about our plan to improve traffic flow and help significantly speed transit on Danforth Avenue during an upcoming one-day subway closure between Main Street and Broadview stations on Sunday, July 24. Approximately 30 to 35 shuttle buses will be introduced to traffic on Danforth Avenue during this subway closure.

TTC operations staff is coordinating with City Transportation to implement temporary on-street parking restrictions along both sides of Danforth Avenue between Broadview and Main Street. The parking restrictions would generally be in effect between 3:30 a.m. Sunday to 12:01 a.m. Monday. In your area specifically, the plan is to temporarily restrict parking on Danforth Avenue between Broadview Avenue and Dewhurst Boulevard.

TTC conducted a pilot restricting on-street parking on Danforth Avenue between Broadview and Pape during a subway closure on Sunday, June 12. During this pilot, TTC operations staff observed significant improvements in bus travel time and reduced traffic congestion on Danforth Avenue. Travel times for TTC customers were reduced by up to 44% compared to the previous subway closure on June 4 (in which on-street parking remained in place on the Danforth).

Our goal is to keep transit and traffic moving as best as possible during these weekend subway closures, which are necessary for maintaining subway infrastructure in a state-of-good-repair. One full weekend (two days) of work during a subway closure equals about five weeks of nightly work.

Subway closures currently scheduled in your area this year are listed below:

Kind regards,

Paul Tran
