Pumpkin Spooktacular Kicks off

Danforth Spooktacular

Halloween Fun on the Danforth

Riverdale Event Shows Pumpkin Carving and Eating

Doesn’t Have to Be Scary!

Toronto, ON – October 18, 2010 – Pumpkin carving doesn’t have to be scary and eating pumpkins can even be fun.  That’s what local Danforth merchants are serving up this Saturday, October 23 at the Danforth Pumpkin Spooktacular.

The Spooktacular includes a pumpkin patch with locally grown pumpkins from the 100 Mile Market; and, a pumpkin carving workshop led by local sculpture artists and OCAD students who will share tips on how to make a fantastic Jack-o-lantern for your home.

The fun with pumpkins goes beyond carving as local chefs from the Auld Spot Pub, Dash Kitchen, Dough Bakery, Globe Bistro, and the Second Cup will serve up a selection of pumpkin creations that showcase what a tasty treat the seasonal gourd of October can truly be.  By shelling out $5.00, patrons can sample all the creations.

Local retail merchants have joined in the fun and are entering their own carved pumpkins in a competition for the best design.  Visitors can vote for their favourite and in return will receive a coupon book full of treats from Danforth retailers.

“Halloween is traditionally a big event in our community,” said Susan Puff, Executive Director of the Danforth BIA.  “The Danforth Pumpkin Spooktacular is a great way for Torontonians to treat themselves as we get ready for the big night of Ghosts and Ghouls”

The Pumpkin Spooktacular runs between 11am and 2pm at 200 Danforth  Avenue, rain or shine.

BullFrog Power, ESKA Water and  Boom 97.3 are proud sponsors of Danforth Pumpkin Spooktacular.
The Danforth BIA works with more than 350 merchants, restaurants and services to provide a unique, urban shopping, dining and entertainment experience along Danforth Avenue.
